Re-Timer Competitor Analysis

The chart below is the output of lux meter and spectral testing at recommended operating distances from the eye for each device.

The tests were conducted in a NATA certified ISO17025 laboratory.

410-485nm wavelength indicates a greater than 20% spectral radiance risk factor – the higher range of blue light hazard (shown as blue shaded area on chart)

470-525nm is the optimum wavelength range for melatonin suppression/DLMO (Dim Light Melatonin Onset) (shown as yellow shaded area on chart)

Because the specific colour and intensity of light is what makes Re-Timer work so well, it is important to measure that correctly, which is why we use spectral illuminance and spectral irradiance. A specific colour is represented in the spectrum of visible light as a wavelength in nanometers. All visible light is in the 400 – 700 nm (nanometers) range. All the colours of the rainbow can be described in nanometers from Violet at the low 400nm end up to red at the 700nm high end of the visible light range. Re-Timer light is around 505nm which is a blue-green light and has proven to be the most effective wavelength in re-timing body clocks including suppressing Melatonin.

Spectral irradiance is the most common way of characterising a light source. It gives the power density at a particular wavelength.

Spectral illuminance refers to the specific amount of light from that colour in the spectrum falling onto a given surface area.
